Inscription: | In memory of Vincent Mackesy, Lieutenant, H.M. 63rd Regiment, son of Thomas Lewis Mackesy, M.D., of this city, who, having been engaged in the hard fought fields of alma, Balaklava, and Inkermann, and having undergone the dangers and privations of the Crimean Winter Campaign (1854-5) in the siege operations before sevastopol, was attacked with fever, and died at Scrtari, the 7th March 1855 aged 24 years. |
