| Inscription: | Sacred to the memory of Lieut. Robert Islip of the south Devon Militta, son of the Revd Walter Islip of Stedham Sussex, who having with the regiment Volunteered his services in Ireland, to repel an invading enemy and suppress rebellion, died in this city the 29th of March 1799 aged 21. Sincerely lamented by his brother officers, who in testimony of their affection erected this tablet. |
