| Inscription: | May it profit to Recall the most reverend father in christ Richard Laurence, LL.D.,Archbishop of Cashel and Bishop of Waterford and Lismoere, who was unanimously acknowledged as simple, gentle, upright, learned, and pious. Though a law was passed (alas) which deprived the churches of Waterford and Lismore of their own patron, it was due to Richard that this city was never to lack the protection of a Bishop remaining here continually. He died 28 December 11838 at the age of 78. |
